Calling all young home-ed writers, comic strip artists and film makers
Calling all young home-ed writers, comic strip artists and film makers
Please pass this message on and spread the word as far as you can.
I am launching a competition open to home-educated children and young people only. To enter the competition, you need to produce a story about bullying.
Your story may be told in any one of the following 3 formats:
a) a written story
b) a film
c) a comic strip
Whichever format you choose, you must be able to send it to me in digital form, either by e-mail (writing and comic strips) or on a DVD rom (films).
All work submitted will be made public on a website in Anti-Bullying Week (November 16 to 20), unless you wish your work not to be shown, which is fine.
I am in the process of finding judges and prizes, so will let people know more about those when I have arranged them!
If you are interested, contact me as soon as possible for an application form and more details.

My Father Gandhi
This film was an eye opener to the world of Gandhi starting from scratch. You can see how his Mahatma Gandhi's relationship developed with his wife, their sons daughter inlaw and grandchildren. This wasn't an easy film to watch as you felt the, pain, anger, dissapointment and happinessas as the story unfolded. Which made you ask yourself lots of questions and want to read up further on how Mahatma's mind worked.
I loved the way the black and white footage from the the 1900's onwards slipped in along side the events, which really gave it a historical feel. The the film was in subtitles which was great as it wouldn't have worked with dubbing. If you like films with an historical element then it's worth watching this one.

Fantastic Mr Fox
Last Thursday we started off our adventure with a visit to The Odeon Leicester Square to see the premier of The Fantastic Mr Fox. In true spirit, the film kept to the book with adding more story line, encompassing all the elements that kept me reading chapter after chapter to my kin.
Mr Fox and his family living a sedate existance, decides to go back to the old ways .With a new house, family and life. They end up recruiting and encourage their neighbours, colleques, friends and everyone else into enjoying what life has to offer. A film not to be missed
